  • GPS coordinates (only if you choose "Use my location", never collected automatically)

2. How We Use Your Data

  • Personalise recipes: Show recipes matching your dietary identity, cuisine preferences, cooking skill, and kitchen equipment
  • Generate grocery lists: Calculate exact quantities based on recipes, headcount, and existing stock
  • Compare prices: Show grocery prices across BigBasket, Swiggy Instamart, Blinkit, and JioMart
  • Track kitchen stock: Manage grocery inventory and expiry tracking
  • Meal planning: Power calendar-based meal planning and budget features
  • Improve the service: Understand usage patterns to build better features

3. Third-Party Sharing

We do not sell your personal data. We share data only in these limited cases:

  • Grocery platforms: When you place an order through our platform, we redirect you to the respective grocery platform (BigBasket, JioMart, Swiggy Instamart, Blinkit). Your grocery list data may be shared to pre-fill your cart.
  • Google OAuth: We use Google sign-in for authentication. Google receives your authentication request but does not receive your Grate Chef usage data.
  • Analytics: We use Vercel Analytics to understand page performance. This data is anonymised and does not identify individual users.

4. Data Storage & Security

  • Your data is stored in a PostgreSQL database hosted on Neon.tech (AWS infrastructure)
  • All data is encrypted in transit using SSL/TLS
  • The application is hosted on Vercel with enterprise-grade security
  • We do not store passwords — authentication is handled entirely through Google OAuth

5. Your Rights

You have the right to:

  • View all your personal data from the Profile page
  • Edit your preferences, dietary identity, and kitchen setup at any time
  • Export your data by contacting us at the email below
  • Delete your account and all associated data permanently from Profile > Settings > Delete Account

6. Cookies

We use essential cookies only for maintaining your authentication session. We do not use tracking cookies, advertising cookies, or third-party analytics cookies.

7. Children's Privacy

Grate Chef is not intended for users under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has provided us with personal data, please contact us and we will delete it promptly.

8. DPDPA 2023 Compliance (India)

In compliance with the Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023 (DPDPA), we affirm that:

  • We collect and process personal data only for lawful purposes with your consent
  • You have the right to access, correct, and erase your personal data
  • We implement reasonable security safeguards to protect your data
